                                  Notification No. 16/2012-Central Excise


     G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central
Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the
public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the
Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 01/2011 -Central
Excise, dated the 1st March, 2011, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section
3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R.116 (E), dated the 1st March, 2011, namely :-
   In the said notification, ­
   (a)          in the opening paragraph, for "1% ad valorem:", "2% ad valorem:" shall be substituted;
   (b)          in the Table,-
           (i)     serial number 28,40, 88 and 89 and the entries relating thereto, shall be omitted;
           (ii)    against serial number 115, for the entry in column (3), the entry "Spectacle lenses"
                   shall be substituted;
           (iii) after serial number 130 and the entries relating thereto, the following shall be
                   inserted, namely:-
          (1)          (2)                                         (3)
         "131       Any     Parts, components and accessories namely, battery chargers, PC
                    Chapter connectivity cables, memory cards and hands-free headphones of mobile
                            handsets.
                            Explanation. - For the purposes of this entry, mobile handsets include
                            cellular phones."

Note. - The principal notification No. 1/2011-Central Excise, dated the 1st March, 2011, published in
the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i),vide number G.S.R.116(E),
dated the 1st March, 2011, was last amended vide notification No. 43/2011-Central Excise, dated
the 30th December, 2011, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-
section (i), vide number G.S.R.938 (E), dated the 30 th December, 2011.
