SEIZURE OF 300 GMS. OF NARCOTIC DRUGS VALUED AT RS. 30.00 LAKH
Acting on a specific intelligence received from DRI, Delhi Zonal Unit, the DRI officers
of Kolkata Zonal Unit visited one courier office viz. M/s Sky Net Worldwide Express,
Kolkata on 18.01.2011 and detained a export consignment (sealed packet) under cover of
AWB No. 000112181421, meant for shipment to South Africa. On examination of the
sealed packet it was revealed that the packet contained three (3) wooden photo-frames of
Lord Krishna. Each of the photo-frame was made of wooden plate, wrapped with black
paper and cloth. After detaching the three wooden photo frames (made of plywood) it
was found that there were cavities in the frame. Each cavity contained one black coloured
plastic packet, having some yellowish coloured powdered substances believed to be
brown sugar/heroin. Three Samples were drawn from each packet and tested by drug
testing kit that prima facie confirmed the goods as Brown Sugar/Heroin. The net
quantity of Brown Sugar/Heroin recovered from the three packets is 300.00 gm. valued
at Rs. 30,00,000/-. The said goods were seized under Sec. 43 of the NDPS Act, 1985 as
the same was liable to confiscation under Section 60 of act ibid. Further investigation is
in progress.
