State to exempt sugar from CST, VAT

Conceding the demand of the sugar industry, State government has decided to exempt sugar from Central Sales Tax (CST) and VAT.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Group of Ministers held under the chairmanship Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

It was also decided that the huge quantity of sugar required by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) would be henceforth procured be from Andhra Pradesh instead of Tamil Nadu.

Regarding the demand of power subsidy sought by ferro alloys units, jute industry and textiles, the GoM would submit a report to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu after his return from abroad.
