ASSESSMENT TEST
CERTIFICATE COURSE ON INDIRECT TAXES
SCHEDULED TO BE HELD ON 31ST AUGUST, 2014
Assessment Test of all the Certificate Courses on Indirect Taxes completed on or before
August 30, 2014 will be conducted by the Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI on
August 31, 2014.
Participants are requested to register themselves at the Assessment Centre of their choice
on or before 15th August, 2014 by filling the on-line application form at the below link :

Date of Assessment Test August 31, 2014 (Sunday)
Time 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Note: A candidate can appear unlimited attempts in the Assessment Test for the period of three years from the date
of completion of a particular batch.
The candidates reappearing for the Assessment Test are required to pay the Assessment
Test Fees of ` 1,000/-, by online payment / through DD/Pay Order made in favor of 'The
Secretary, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India' payable at New Delhi. The
reappearing candidates are also requested to send the hard copy of the Hall Ticket along
with the "acknowledgement of online payment" or "DD/Pay Order/ Cheque" to the address
mentioned below.

A. SYLLABUS FOR THE ASSESSMENT TEST
The various subjects and the weightage thereof for the Assessment Test will be as
under :

3. VAT - General Concepts and Central Sales Tax 16 marks
4. Customs Duty 10 marks
5. Service Tax & CENVAT Credit Rule, 2004 40 marks
6. GST - Going Forward 04 marks
7. Foreign Trade Policy to the extent relevant from 06 marks
indirect tax perspective
TOTAL 100 marks
The Finance Act, 2013 and Notifications/Circulars issued till February, 2014
will be applicable.
B. PATTERN OF ASSESSMENT TEST
Question paper will be of 100 marks, divided into two parts i.e., PART A,
containing 35 multiple choice questions carrying 2 marks each and
PART B, containing 6 short-questions of 5 marks each. There will be an internal
choice in Part B.
C. PASSING MARKS
Passing marks for the Assessment Test is 50. The Institute is not undertaking any
assessment in the strict sense but evaluating the capabilities inculcated through the
learning process. The candidate securing less than 50% marks in the assessment test
will have to re-appear in the test.

Note: Participants may note that the Centre(s) where no. of participants registered for the Assessment

Assessment Test) by August 28, 2014.
