Divya Salaskar, daughter of senior police inspector Vijay Salaskar who was martyred in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, has been appointed Assistant Commissioner of Sales Tax, Mumbai. Divya received the job letter from the Maharashtra government on Wednesday.

I received a letter and a certificate which informed me of my posting. This meant that my position is secured. I will have to fulfil some formalities now, Divya said.

There had been a deadlock for quite some time. When I met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for an interview, I told him that the appointment was taking a long time. He assured me that he would personally look into it. Once I spoke to him, everything happened fast, said Divya.

Divya said she had since met the Deputy Secretary (Finance), who explained all procedures to her. I am very happy with my posting, she said.
