Tax lawyers worries about slow e-system
January, 29th 2010

With the last date of e-filing value-added tax (VAT) nearing, a server that is allegedly running slowly has added to the advocates problems.

Angry that nothing was being done to resolve the matter, around 50 members of District Taxation Bar Association (Sales Tax) organized a protest on Thursday.

Associations press secretary Jatinder Kumar Khurana said lawyers had been facing inconvenience for the last four days due to a slow server.

Despite reminders sent to the Patiala head office, he claimed nothing had been done to solve the problem. Its so bad that we cant file more than five returns a day, he added.

Association president Kanwaljit Singh said January 30 was the last day of filing e-returns. Weve been working late night but the technical problem is too much for us to handle now, he added.
