The Department of Excise and Taxation Department, UT, in association with the Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) under the aegis of the Department of IT on Friday soft launched an e-registration module for dealers, traders in the city.
The module is part of a commercial taxes application which is a mission mode project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). The e-registration will be online for dealers from Friday onwards where dealers can submit all the required information and submit documents electronically for the new registration through the website.
After submitting the file electronically, the file will go to the particular Taxation Inspector (TI) of that ward and TI will check all the documents and forwards it to the ETO electronically. Once the ETO approves the file the dealer will get its TIN number along with the password through e-mail. SPIC has developed this integrated application in-house which is a web based application. It will reduce official-dealer interface, reduce response time, provide a faster service delivery, reduce transaction cost, increase transparency and increase accountability. It will provide online application for registration, its quick processing including electronic submission of query, if needed, submission of online response by dealers and its receipt by the system and a facility for tracking the status of the application over the internet.
SPIC will act as an executing agency for the implementation of this project which will implement a Commercial Tax application in Excise Taxation department of the Chandigarh Administration. Commercial Taxes Mission Mode Program (CT-MMP) has been adopted with the twin goal of ensuring standardization across states in their implementation of Value Added Taxes (VAT) as well as providing improved services to citizens. CT-MMP was conceived by the Government of India under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).
