After already slashing VAT on air turbine fuel (ATF) to 5% from earlier existing mark of 23%, now the state government is considering to bring it further down to zero level. The move aims at wooing airline services firm Air Asia, whose officials had recently met the state government officials in Bhopal expressing its interest to develop its aviation hub in the state.
State industry and information technology minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, said here on Tuesday that in case Air Asia plans to choose either Indore or Bhopal as its hub, the state government is ready to bring down the VAT on ATF to zero level. He was speaking here on Tuesday while laying the foundation stone for IT park at Pardeshipura.
The state government had recently issued a notification in connection with reduction of VAT on ATF to 5%. The idea behind the state government's plan to make VAT on ATF to zero is the fact that it will not only provide employment opportunities to the eligible state youths, but it will also help grow various accessories industries in the state. The operation and maintenance of the proposed aviation hub by Air Asia will help in various ways, said Vijayvargiya. Moreover, it will increase the air connectivity of the state to other parts of the country, added he. The Air Asia officials are likely to meet the state government officials on the issue for the second time shortly. tnnThe operation and maintenance of the proposed aviation hub by Air Asia will help in various ways, said Vijayvargiya.
