Companies Bill soon: Gupta |
|
September, 08th 2006 |
The recodified Companies Bill was being given final touches, said Prem Chand Gupta, the Union minister of company affairs while inaugurating the 34th convention of the Institute of Company Secretaries India (ICSI) with the theme 'Reshaping the profession-Creating new niches'.
Gupta said governance of the corporate sector would witness a welcome change in the interest of the corporate sector, the common investor and the society at large.
The government was in the process of finalising the law on limited liability partnerships (LLPs) thanks to cooperation from ICSI. Large partnership firms would enable Indian businesses participate in global deals in a much more meaningful and confident manner, Gupta predicted.
Anil K Agarwal, president of Assocham and the keynote speaker, said company secretaries should work with both multinationals coming to India and Indian companies going global through mergers and acquisitions internationally.
H M Choraria, president of ICSI, said in his presidential address that ISCI was securing new recognition for company secretaries, and developing multi-disciplinary skills for globalisation of the profession.
