Two teams from Ahmedabad and Surat sales tax departments recovered Rs 7.50 lakh of value added tax (VAT) evasion during raids at a yarn trader, glass trader and a cement bricks manufacturer here on Wednesday.
According to department sources, illegal transaction of Rs 16 lakh was detected from the cement bricks manufacturer unit on Udhna-Magdalla Road. "Rs 4 lakh VAT was recovered from the unit owner," said a source. This apart, Rs 3.50 lakh VAT was recovered from glass trader and a yarn trader on Bhatar Road.
