965 bank branches to accept advance income tax |

The Reserve Bank on Monday said that 965 branches of public and private sector banks would receive advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These arrangements have been made for the convenience of income tax assesses.
Of the 965 branches, 900 belong to public sector banks while the rest belong to private sector banks. In the private sector category, 36 HDFC Bank, 10 ICICI Bank and 19 Axis Bank branches would receive the advance income tax.
Long queues and inconveniences can be avoided at the Reserve Bank of India counters if the assesses in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai utilise the services being made available at various designated branches of banks and deposit their income tax dues well in adv ance of the last date,'' the RBI statement added.
