The Salem Branch of Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducted a day-long Service Tax seminar in the city on Saturday.
A. Sowkath Ali, Chairman of Salem Branch of SIRC of ICAI, inaugurated the event.
S. Arokia Raj, Joint Commissioner of Central Excise Customs and service Tax, was the chief guest at the inaugural and P.V. Rajarajeswaran, Regional Council Member, SIRC of ICAI, presided over.
Speakers at the programme - P. Rajendra Kumar from Chennai gave a presentation on the “Concept of negative list of services & exempted service” and “Declared service reverse and joint charge”; and Shaikh Abdul Samad Ahamad, Chennai, gave a presentation on the topic “Procedural aspects on Service Tax registration, payment, return filing, basic concept of CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004 and point of Taxation Rules”.
Managing Committee Members of Salem Branch of SIRC of ICAI, Vice Chairman A. V. Arun, Secretary R. Raveendran, treasurer I. Sivakumar, were present.
