New batch of IRS officers passes out from Nagpur academy
April, 17th 2012

The officers of 64th batch of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) today passed out from the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) here after completing a 16-month training programme. The batch, consisting of 139 officer-trainees, had joined NADT for training which commenced in December 2010. They will be posted in various parts of the country as Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax. Laxman Das, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), was the chief guest at the passing out ceremony, a release from NADT said.

Speaking on the occasion, Das reminded the young officers of the challenges and opportunities that are arising due to globalisation of the economy and the consequent public expectations from them. Emphasising on the need to constantly improve upon their knowledge and skills, he advised the officers to take care of the legitimate needs of taxpayers. Das called upon each one of them to inculcate a sense of duty, pride and commitment while discharging their professional duties and remain conscious of their own image and that of the department.
