Tax evasion of Rs 2.10cr detected

The Commissionerate of Income Tax (CIT II) on Friday claimed to have detected tax evasion of Rs 2.10 crore by a civil contractor of Sector 27.

AK Kaushal, CIT II, said besides unaccounted cash of Rs 20 lakh, the I-T sleuths, led by additional CIT Kalpana Kataria, also recovered some incriminating documents during the survey.

The assessee has agreed to pay tax liabilities on Rs 2.10 crore detected during the survey. As far as incriminating documents
are concerned, these are basically unaccounted transactions carried out by various firms managed by Gurinder Pal Singh, Kaushal added. The current development concerns the surveys carried out by income tax sleuths, led by additional CIT Kalpana Kataria, on the Sector 27 premises of the civil contractor having projects in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal.
