No clear mandate in Chartered Accountants elections
January, 11th 2010

None of the two panels that contested in the election of Ahmedabad branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) received clear mandate. Both vibrant-8 panel, representing small and medium CA practitioners, and care panel, representing Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Delloitte and KPMG, managed to win four seats each out of total eight.

The four winning candidates of vibrant-8 panel are Jainik Vakil, Devang Doctor, Aniket Talati and Purushottam Khandelwal. On the other hand, Niren Nagari, Sanjay Shah, Tushar Shah and Subodh Kedia of care panel also came out as winners.

Of the more than 4,100 CA voters, around 2,034 voters turned out for voting on Saturday. "This is highest-ever voting that Ahmedabad Branch of CA Institute has witnessed," said Sunil Talati, former president of ICAI.

Aniket Talati has set the record of being the youngest member of the Ahmedabad Branch of CA Institute and followed the path of his grandfather HM Talati and his fatherSunil Talati. "This is a record as this is our third living generation serving Ahmedabad branch of CA Institute," said Talati.
