The Indian industry represented by the three chambers of commerce, CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM is meeting the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today as the Finance Ministry kicks off its pre-budget consultation with various sections of the economy.
Indian industry is meeting the Finance Minister at a time when there is increasing talk of a withdrawal of stimulus measures in the next fiscal and a possible delay in the introduction of the goods and services tax, or GST.
Industry is also expected to bring up the issue of tax treatment of minimum alternative tax, or MAT in the new direct tax code.
