Those who give information on tax defaulters to be rewarded

The Department of Revenue, Government of India, has decided to extend the reward scheme to the cases of recovery of arrears from tax defaulters, a press release from the office of the Commissioner of Central Excise stated.

According to the scheme, reward will be given to an informer who gives information regarding whereabouts, assets, movable/immovable properties from whom arrears of duty, tax, fine, penalty etc are recoverable and the information results in recovery of arrears.

The reward in such cases can be given upto a maximum of five per cent of the amount recovered.
