Wipro launches Excise & Service Tax 'ACES' portal for CBEC |

Wipro Infotech, the India and Middle East IT Business of Wipro Ltd and a leading provider of IT and business transformation services, today announced the launch of one of the most prestigious automation projects for the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC). The entire Central Excise and Service Tax functionalities across India will be automated under this application. The application portal, ACES (Automation of Central Excise and Service Tax), was launched by Anand Sankaran, Chief Executive, Wipro Infotech in the city amidst much cheer in the presence of the CBEC Board member and other dignitaries. This application launch is currently for Assesses for large tax payer unit [LTU] Bengaluru and will subsequently be launched for all jurisdiction of India for the Manufacturers, Dealers and Service providers. This mission critical system, once goes live, will act as the backbone of the Governments IT Infrastructure.
The Central Excise Department functioning under the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Ministry of Finance is entrusted with the job of collection of Central Excise Duties on all goods manufactured or produced within India and the collection of service tax on specified services.
Presently, the assesses submit their documents, including returns, registration, and others on paper. These processes will be automated, which will provide tremendous advantages to the assesses and departmental users alike. The advantages include speedening of the filing of registration and submission of returns. Among the benefits the assesses are going to gain from the application include tracking of refunds online and settlement of disputes quickly and accurately. Using this application, the department will be able to report on tax collections faster and more accurately. ACES brings under one centralized platform a very large and diverse set of procedures and business functionalities covering the entire gamut of central excise and service tax.
