IT dept hopes to collect Rs 9000cr taxes in AP

Income Tax department is hoping to collect Rs 9,000 crore in taxes, well above the target of Rs 8,479 crore for the current financial year in Andhra Pradesh. 
 
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, D V Dharmik, chief commissioner, IT, said the department had collected Rs 4,610 crore, 54 per cent of the total annual target, by the end of November, 2006. 
 
While the growth in tax collections for the nine months was 49 per cent as compared with the collections in the corresponding period last year, the growth in corporate taxes and personal income tax was 43 per cent and 54 per cent respectively. 
 
Basing on the current trend in tax collections, the department is confident of achieving Rs 9,000 crore for the full financial year, Dharmik said. 
 
He appealed to the corporate assessees to pay advance tax installments before the deadline of December 15, 2006.
