CA, bouncers held after clash with lawyers in court
November, 26th 2011

The Gurgaon police have arrested a Mumbai-based Chartered Accountant (CA) and three bouncers for allegedly assaulting an advocate inside the court premises on Friday.

Vijay Vaishnav had come to the court with the bouncers to attend a hearing, police said.

A resident of Lokhandwala, he married a woman from Kendriya Vihar in Gurgaon Sector-56 in 2011. After a while, their relationship turned sour and the woman alleged that she was being subjected to cruelty.

Subsequently, a case was registered against Vaishnav at the Sector-56 police station. He would come to the city frequently to attend hearings.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Abhay Rao said, Around five to six members of the womans family are lawyers at the Gurgaon court. When Vijay came down for a hearing on an earlier occasion, he was assaulted by them. So, this time, Vijay came with three to four bouncers for security, said Rao.

The lawyers tried to assault him this time too. The bouncers intervened, and in the commotion that ensued, some lawyer may have been injured. Thats when other lawyers stepped in, and lodged a police complaint against the CA. He was arrested as well, Rao added.

Vijay had to undergo a medical examination because he was also injured in the commotion.

Based on a statement from the lawyer, police registered a case against all four under Section 323/506 of the Indian Penal Code.

We will produce them in court on Saturday, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Bijendra Singh of Khadsa Road police station.
