Patel seeks tax cut on jet fuel
October, 24th 2008

A day after getting relief for airlines from the oil ministry, aviation minister Praful Patel met FM P Chidambaram on Thursday to seek taxcut on jet fuel. The aviation industry has been demanding that jet fuel be termed a declared good so that flat 4% sales tax is levied on it across the country instead of current rates that can be over 25% in certain states.

After meeting, Patel said: "The finance minister has said that some appropriate measures will be taken in two to three days to help the aviation industry. The ministry is willing to rationalize taxes."
