An application can be filed with the concerned assessing officer, requesting for the issue of refunds for the AY 2012-13. Also, a grievance can be filed under the ‘e-Nivaran’ tab on the income tax e-filing portal with the concerned authority to issue the refunds for the said year. It is advised to check the status of your tax return/refunds to identify the concerned authority before filing the grievance. It may also be helpful to verify the refunds for the subsequent years, to check if the refund for the AY 2012-13 has been adjusted thereon.

Is there any way to rectify a mismatch in what the employer has deducted as tax and what is reflecting in Form 26 AS?
—Bhushan Parab
If there is mismatch in the taxes deducted by your employer and the amount appearing in your Form 26AS, then you should inform your employer about it. Your employer will be required to rectify the quarterly e-TDS returns filed by it with the income tax department. Once the e-TDS returns are corrected, the actual taxes deducted by your employer will appear in your Form 26AS.
