To CEOs of All NBFCs (excluding RNBCs)

Dear Sir/Madam,

Returns to be submitted by NBFCs- Introduction of ‘Branch info’ return

Please refer to the DNBS (PD).CC.No.243/03.02.02/2011-12 dated September 22, 2011 on submission of returns by NBFCs. In terms of the extant instructions NBFCs are required to file various periodical returns. However, no information/data relating to branch network of NBFCs is currently being filed with RBI.

2. With a view to capturing the reach and geographical spread of NBFCs, it is considered necessary to create a comprehensive database of branches of NBFCs and update the same on an ongoing basis. It has therefore been decided to capture branch details of the NBFCs such as name, address, date of opening, closure etc. as per the ‘Branch Info’ return hosted on the websitehttps://cosmos.rbi.org.in under the menu ‘Download blank form’. The Return is also available in the Bank website www.rbi.org.in> Sitemap > NBFC list > Forms/Returns.

3. All deposit taking NBFCs and all Non-deposit taking NBFCs having total assets more than Rs.50 crore are advised as under:

a) Submit within one month from the date of this circular, information in respect of all their branches functioning as on June 30, 2013

b) Thereafter, update on a quarterly basis, the details of the branches opened/closed during the calendar quarter. Such updation will be done within 10 days of the calendar quarter to which the information relates.

4. With the introduction of the new return, all public deposit accepting Non-banking financial companies need not submit the data pertaining to Branch details in NBS-1 from the return for September 2013 onwards.

5. Amending Notifications No. DNBS (PD) 261/2013-14 of date amending Non-Banking Financial Companies Acceptance of Public Deposits (Reserve Bank) Directions, 1998 and No. DNBS (PD) 262/2013-14 of date amending Non-banking Financial ( Non- Deposit Accepting or Holding) Companies Prudential Norms (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2007 are enclosed for meticulous compliance.
