New chief of Audit bureau is Vijay Darda

Rajya Sabha MP and chairman of Lokmat Group of Newspapers, Vijay Jawaharlal Darda, will be the new chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC). Darda, a member of the Bureaus Council of Management since 2003, has been unanimously elected the ABC chief for the year 2010-11. A three time Rajya Sabha MP, Darda, has earlier held the posts of president of the Indian Newspaper Society and the deputy chairman of ABC. He has also been a member of the Press Council of India twice. Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director of Madison Communications Private Limited, an advertising agency member on the Council was unanimously elected as its deputy chairman. The other members on the council include M. Venkatesh (Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd), Ravi Dhariwal, Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd, and Shailesh Gupta (Jagran Prakashan Ltd).
