PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has appointed David Adair as its new head of community affairs.
In his new role, Mr Adair will take charge of schemes aimed at promoting social inclusion in the areas in which PwC is based.
According to Richard Collier-Keywood, managing partner of the firm, these projects allow employees to boost their skills, while offering a number of other benefits.
He said: "Our community and sustainability programme not only has a positive impact on the communities in which we operate but also recognises that we are dependent on these same communities."
The economic downturn has made these projects even more important than they were in the past, Mr Collier-Keywood added.
Mr Adair joined PwC's community affairs team in 2001.
Last week, it was announced that PwC has been placed first in the High Fliers Top 100 Graduate Employers list for the sixth year in a row.
