`Waive sales tax on pea flour'
September, 19th 2006
The Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry's President, Mr S. Rethinavelu, while welcoming the grant of exemption to pulses and grams during the recent budget session in July, has asked the Government of Tamil Nadu to extend the sales tax exemption to flour made out of peas, peas dhall and parched/fried peas. The Government decided to extend the sales tax exemption to peas, peas dhall and oil cake in its Cabinet meeting held on Thursday last. However, the benefit was not extended to the flour made out of peas and peas dhall/ fried peas. Mr Rethinavelu said exemption to these items would enable the benefits reach the common man.
