The income tax department has so far settled 78,560 refund claims disbursing Rs 4,276 crore between April and August this year, compared with the corresponding periods 52,969 refund claims disbursing Rs 3,097 crore, said Mumbais Chief Commissioner of Income Tax K Venkatramani on Monday.
He said revenue collection in Greater Mumbai has gone up by 62% with Rs 23,315 crore compared with Rs 14,369 crore over the corresponding period of last financial year.
The department has so far netted income-tax worth Rs 23,315 crore, he added.
