With a view to build sustainable capacity by providing members of the Institute an opportunity to interact with the officials of the leading international trade bodies such as World Trade Organization (WTO) has been in dialogue for establishing bilateral agreements with various countries and to tap the vast market existing for professionals like Chartered Accountants through such Agreements, the Committee on Economic, Commercial Laws & WTO & EA of the ICAI is organizing a Study Tour from 25th September to 4th October 2017 to Geneva, Venice, Budapest & Vienna also covering the WTO Public Forum, entitled “Trade: Behind the Headlines” scheduled to be held from 26th to 28th September, 2017 at the WTO headquarters in Geneva. The WTO Public Forum is the WTO’s largest annual outreach event. It provides a unique platform for heads of states, parliamentarians, leading global business people, students, academics and non-governmental organizations to come together and debate on a wide range of WTO issues and on some of the major trade and development topics of the day. People across the world participate in this conference in huge nos. There is no registration fee. The participants shall also get an opportunity to visit the WTO Headquarters.
The study tour would provide an opportunity to the members to gain an insight and exposure which will assist them in enhancing their understanding of the functioning of their systems and establish/strengthen a network of useful contacts with relevant experts from these interactions. The study tour apart from holding discussions with counterpart organizations, stakeholders, members etc. may also explore the possibility of exploring networking etc.
The delegation would comprise of Members of the Institute on first-cum-first-served basis. Accompanying persons will not be taken in delegation. In view of hectic study/business interactions, Study Tour will have restricted site seeing options.
It may also be noted that visas are granted at sole discretion of the concerned embassy and for any rejections arising thereof ICAI shall not be responsible and the contract shall lie between the travel operator and the member.
This is a preliminary announcement to enable the members to consider their inclination. A member may also kindly express preliminary interest. The detailed modalities are being worked out with the tour operators. The formal announcement shall be made after the detailed modalities are worked out.
