The government is aiming to introduce the Goods and Service Tax (GST) amendment bill in the ongoing parliament session, Asim Dasgupta, the head of the panel of state finance ministers on GST said on Wednesday.
He also said states have raised objections about infringement on fiscal autonomy.
The government intends to implement GST from April 1, 2011.
The GST is India's most ambitious indirect tax reform that would replace existing state and federal levies such as excise duty, service tax, and value-added tax and is expected to shore up the government's coffers by $15 billion a year.
