80 special centres for tax payers, pensioners to file their ITRs
July, 28th 2016

To help salaried employees and pensioners file their income tax returns by July 31 (the last date for fiscal year 2015 - 2016) and ensure they do not miss the deadline, the Income Tax Department is organizing 80 special counters at Gayathri Vihar in Palace Grounds from July 29 to July 31.

All counters would operate from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm to receive the returns of income. Also, arrangements have been made to receive the bulk returns separately.

For those with total income exceeding Rs 5 lakh and those claiming refund even if their income is below 5 lakh and are mandatorily required to file their returns electronically, e-filing intermediaries would be made available to the taxpayers at the venue, enabling them to e-file their returns.

The special counters would provide ATMs, swipe machines and bank extension counter, facilitating instantaneous payment of taxes if any, tax return preparers (TRPs) to assist the tax payers in preparing their returns of income and PAN Service (NSDL) counters. Medical Support Unit to meet emergencies and food courts for public would also be a part of these centres.

Sufficient number of help desks including separate help desks for senior citizens and differently- abled as well as volunteers will be available to guide the taxpayers.

While from July 29 to 31, the Income-tax Returns of salaried employees and pensioners will not be received in HMT Bhavan, CPC, Bangalore will also set up a counter to receive the acknowledgement of the e-returns filed, reported Income Tax Department.
