A division bench of the Patna high court comprising Chief Justice L Narasimha Reddy and Justice Sudhir Singh, while hearing a PIL on Tuesday, directed the principal advocate general to file the state government's reply to it within four weeks.
The PIL, filed by NGO Nagrik Adhikar Manch, has alleged the state government has put double taxation as VAT and service tax on stone chips, which is illegal and irrelevant.
The same bench, while hearing another PIL, directed the Banka district judge to inquire into the alleged distribution of portions of land of Dumrama High School among mahadalit families by the state government. The Banka judge has been asked to complete the probe by July 14.
