Department of Income Tax is organizing special counters at Gayathri Vihar in Palace ground to facilitate filing the returns of income of salaried employees and pensioners from July 29 to 31. Last date to file returns is July 31.

These counters will remain open between 9.30am and 5pm on all the three days. During this period, the Income-tax Returns of salaried assessees and pensioners will not be received in HMT Bhavan.

Around 80 counters will be set up to receive the returns of income in Gayathri Vihar. Arrangements are made to receive the bulk returns separately. Since the assessees with total income exceeding Rs 5 lakhs are required to file their returns electronically, e-filing intermediaries will be available to the taxpayers at the venue to enable them to e-file the returns.

In addition, the Special counters will contain facilities like ATMs, Swipe Machines and Bank Extension Counter to facilitate instantaneous payment of taxes if any; Tax Return Preparers(TRPs) to assist the assessees in preparing their returns of income; PAN Service (NSDL) counters, Medical Support Unit to meet the unforeseen exigencies: Food Courts to cater to the public etc.

Sufficient number of Help Desks including separate Help Desks for Senior Citizens and differently- abled as well as volunteers will be available to guide the taxpayers.

CPC, Bangalore is also setting up a counter to receive the acknowledgement of the e-returns refilled.
