NC for abolition of VAT on CSD in J&K

Jammu, Jul 15 (PTI) In a move that can benefit 3.5 lakh ex-servicemen besides regular Armed force personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, ruling National Conference today passed a resolution demanding abolishing of VAT on Canteen Service Department (CSD) and housing facilities for ex-servicemen in the state. Chaired by Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta, the NC's Ex-servicemen Cell adopted three resolutions for betterment and welfare of ex-servicemen of Jammu and Kashmir. The party demanded that the state government should abolish Value Added Tax (VAT) on CSD items which are generally used by the families of ex-servicemen and their families besides army personnel posted in Jammu and Kashmir and fighting for the cause of the nation. The Jammu and Kashmir government had imposed 13.5 per cent VAT on CSD items.
