GST Amendment Bill may be tabled in Parliament

The Goods and Service Tax Amendment Bill is likely to be tabled in Parliament by August 20, Media report, quoting sources. The Finance Ministry is keen that states give a quick nod to the bill.

State finance ministers and the Centre are likely to discuss the GST bill on August 4. The discussions on the bill may continue to August 5-6.

Several states are on board for the constitutional amendment. However, some BJP-ruled states have expressed concerns on GST. They want the states' autonomy to be protected.

The Centre is ready for give and take to usher in GST.
