The Commerce Ministry on Thursday announced that duty entitlement passbook (DEPB) rates have been hiked by three per cent in nine identified sectors.
These sectors are textiles (including handloom), readymade garments, leather products, handicrafts, engineering products, processed agricultural products, marine products, sports goods and toys.
An official release said that the DEPB rates for the rest of the items have been enhanced by two per cent. Moreover, the ECGC premium has been reduced by 10 per cent of the existing premium rates.
All these measures are aimed at providing relief to exporters affected by the appreciation of rupee against the US dollar.
