The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Dubai and Confident Group have organized an event recognizing individuals who have done great service to the UAE and their fraternity. The Evening also had a lovely musical concert by the renowned singer, Shreya Ghosal promoting the richness of Indian Music and Culture.
The Chapter have identified certain sectors of the business that are vital to the economy of UAE and the role and contribution that these individuals have made to the UAE and the Chartered Accountant profession. The invite only event took place at the Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai, on Friday, May 31st.
What started by a group of about 20 people years ago, led by CA Russi Jehangir Patel has today grown into a forum of more than 2,000 members. The Chapter acknowledged this great personality's efforts and contribution by thanking and honoring him at the event with a "Life Time Achievement Award" and granted him the status of an 'Honorary member' of the Chapter. Said James Mathew, Chairman, ICAI Dubai Chapter.
The Chapter is immensely proud of its members that have undoubtedly raised the level of respect and regard chartered accountants have in the UAE.
He also added that,this year, the Chapter identified 5 very important segments of the business in the UAE and they are Retail, Hospitality, Banking, Service and Healthcare. The individuals who have been chosen for the Award for Professional Excellence are those persons who have successfully driven the companies that are heading to glorious heights, contributing to the growth of the UAE and enhancing the stature of the profession in this country
Award for Professional Excellence in the Retail Sector is CA Vipen Sethi, the CEO and Director of Landmark Group of Companies.
Award for Professional Excellence in the Hospitality Sector, CA. Sanjeev Agarwala, Director, Strategy and Business Development of Al Habtoor Group LLC.
CA Surya Subramanium who is being given the Award for Professional Excellence in the Banking Sector, is the Group Chief Financial Officer of Emirates NBD Group.
CA. Yuvraj Narayan, the recipient of the Award for Professional Excellence in the Service Sector is the Chief Financial Officer of DP World that is the World's 4th largest port operator
CA Prasanth Manghat, who is the recipient of the Award for Professional Excellence in the Healthcare Sector, is the CFO of this 38 year old group.
