The excise department has seized three vehicles carrying liquor worth Rs 75 lakh on Sunday. Also, two godowns in Devaraja Urs Commercial Yard were raided where some liquor was stored. Officials said that over 1,200 bottles of high-end liquor was seized, which according to police was supposed to be supplied to some of the posh hotels in the city.
The liquor allegedly came from New Delhi. Officials said the owners of the consignment said that they had an invoice for the purchase. But in Karnataka the only wholesale dealer is the Karnataka Beverages Corporation. "Apart from that, the registration numbers of the vehicles shown in the invoice were different from that which were seized," said an official.
