Nifty touches 5000; auto, realty, IT up

Indian markets opened in the positive terrain Wednesday after a sharp decline in previous session. All the sectoral indices were in the green led by auto, realty and IT stocks.

Bombay Stock Exchanges Sensex was at 16651.78, up 79.75 points or 0.48 per cent. The index touched a high of 16678.09 and low of 16574.79 in opening trade.

National Stock Exchanges Nifty was at 4983.85, up 13.65 points or 0.27 per cent. The broader index touched a high of 5001.60 and low of 4967.05 in early trade.

Trade short in Nifty from 4980-5000 levels, with stop loss placed at 5020 targeting 4950 and 4900 levels, said Karvy Stock Broking note.

Buying activity was also seen in second rung stocks. BSE Midcap Index gained 0.88 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.85 per cent higher.

Amongst the sectoral indices, BSE Auto Index was up 1.34 per cent, BSE Realty Index gained 0.94 per cent and BSE IT Index moved 0.84 per cent higher.

Asian markets were mostly in the red. Shanghai Composite slipped 1.60 per cent and Seoul Composite declined 0.66 per cent. Nikkei 225 was up 0.09 per cent.
