Yashwant demands resignation of central govt
June, 07th 2008

Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Friday alleged that wrong fiscal policies had led to price rise which hit the common man and demanded resignation of the UPA government at the Centre headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The UPA has failed to control inflation following faulty policies. At a time when the common man is already hit by sky rocketing prices, the UPA government's decision to hike petrol, diesel and cooking gas has added to the misery, Sinha told newsmen here.

Alleging that whenever the Congress had been in power prices shot up, the former finance minister ridiculed the Congress for its aam admi (common man) slogan.

Stating that abolition of excise and sales tax could have given some relief to the people, Sinha claimed prices and inflation remained stable during the BJP-led NDA government.

Resignation of the UPA government and early poll would relieve the poor from the mounting prices, claimed Sinha.
