Stocks opened on a positive note Wednesday pulling the Sensex and Nifty past the psychological 15000 and 4500 levels, respectively. The early rise could be attributed to the advance in Asia, though analysts warned the rise may be short lived.
At 10:05 am, the Bombay Stock Exchanges Sensex was up 202 points or 1.36 per cent at 15,091.18.
Biggest Sensex gainers were Ranbaxy Laboratories (up 3.91%), Ambuja Cements (3.28%), BHEL (2.6%), Maruti Suzuki (1.93%), Jaiprakash Associates (1.89%), Reliance Infrastructure (1.79%) and ONGC (1.78%).
ITC (down 1.64%) and Hindustan Unilever (0.6%) were the only losers in the 30-share index.
