The Chandigarh chapter of NIRC of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a felicitation of CA Ved Jain, President of the ICAI on 10th June, 2008 in Chandigarh.

The function was organized at CII Convention Centre, Sector 31, and Chandigarh and was attended by more than 300 Chartered Accountants of the region. Present on the occasion were CA Amarjeet Chopra, Member Centre Council, CA Vijay Gupta, Member Centre Council, CA Sukhen Paul Babuta, Secretary NIRC, CA N.K. Saini, Member ITAT, CA G.S. Pannu, Member ITAT, CA T.N. Singla, Member Chandigarh VAT Tribunal, CA Sunil Gupta, Independent Director Canara Bank,  CA Mukul Bansal, CA Alok Krishan, CA Vivek Arora and various Past Chairmen of Chandigarh Branch.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of ICAI shared that vision on future prospects of Institute.

Talking to ABC Live, Chairman of Chandigarh Chapter CA Vineet Aggarwal told that the President CA Ved Jain has informed that ICAI is setting up a Chapter of Institute in New York USA in order to provide opportunity to members of the Institute, based in other countries, to interact among themselves professionally. At present the Chapters of the Institute are in 19 countries.

As per CA Jains Vision, the Institute has taken up the development of the taxonomy of extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) based reporting in India bearing in mind the peculiarities of the Indian legal and regulatory framework.

Further CA Pushpinder Duggal, Secretary of Chandigarh Branch shared with us that ICAI has also started a 3-Months Residential Programme for CA students on Professional Skills Development on the pattern of Lal Bahadur Shastri IAS Training Academy at Massorie and IIM Ahemdabad.

For the purpose, 25 acres of land has been allotted by Rajasthan Government in Jaipur and 10 acres of land by Karnataka Government in Bangalore. The simliar centres are also proposed to be set up at Faridabad and Chandigarh, where negotiations are on with the Government.

While talking on CA Ved Jains Vision Projects, CA Pushpinder Duggal told that the Institute has also taken up initiative to reach the students across the country for which lectures on a daily basis for CPT students through Gyandarshan channel have been started.

In another step towards globalization, The Institute has approved guidelines for permitting such students to do their article ship outside India.
