Removing excise concession will be a negative step: R.C. Bhargava
May, 17th 2014

I think the real positive here is that we are going to have a stable government. There is no question of any coalition holding decisions back. Now, Narendra Modi will have a complete mandate from people to deliver whatever he has been promising. It is after a long time that any political party has reached this position of having an absolute majority on its own.

I think Modi has always spelt out his priorities. I don't think what he has set out as a programme calls for any disagreement or amendment. He has talked about development, job creation, moving manufacturing to a much faster rate of growth, and providing good governance in the country. Whatever is required to achieve all these will be his priority.

I think at this moment the auto sector is in such shape that removing the excise concession given few months ago will be a negative step. So, I hope the concession will continue.
