Larry Sawyer aptly said, "The most brilliant of analyses and the most productive
of audit findings seem to be forgotten during the trauma of report writing." This
quote emphasizes the need for internal auditor to keep their focus on reporting
objectives, and periodically re-conceptualize and reshape their efforts to keep
them aligned with organizational needs. The internal auditor's report should
contain a clear written expression of significant observations, suggestions/
recommendations based on the policies, risks, controls and transactions
processing taken as a whole and management responses. The objective should be
to systematically design reports that deliver essential messages to the targeted
readers.






Recognising the importance of internal audit report writing, the Internal Audit
Standards Board of the Institute of the Chartered Accountants of India is
organizing webinar on "Internal Audit Report Writing" on May 23, 2014, from
4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. The objective of the webinar is to highlight the internal
audit reporting objectives, and providing guidance on formatting of reports and
improving their readability and clarity.
