Around four papers of Mumbai University's M.Com semester examinations are clashing with the Chartered Accountants (CA) exam. The CA exams that start next week are clashing with the CA finals (Group I) on May 26 and 28, the day on which students need to appear for their Semester II papers.
The CA intermediate (IPC) exams that are to be held on 27th and 29th are also clashing with two papers of M.Com semester IV students. The students of the university are distressed, as this is not the first time an exam is clashing with an entrance.
There are more than 10,000 students studying M.Com from the university, and most of them are affected because of this date-mash. The exam schedule was announced by the Institute of Charted Accountants of India (ICAI) on 15th January, and since the exam is conducted at a national level, they cannot afford to change their dates. The ICAI exam usually takes place in the first week of May, but this year, taking into consideration the elections, they decided to postpone the exams to avoid any chaos.
This rests the hope with the University that will have to change the either the timings, or the dates of their examination. If the University decides not to budge, the students will have to make a tough choice that will affect their careers.
