A day after the Tamil Nadu senior higher secondary results threw up scores of toppers aspiring to be chartered accountants, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized a conference to promote global accountancy practices the concept of global CAs.
Speaking about the opportunities for chartered accountants in the current scenario, ICAI president S K Agarwal said financial inclusion is going to be a key growth area in India. In view of the recent initiatives taken by the government, the future of accountancy profession is promising and CAs can play a greater role in the economic development of the country, he said.
"The aim of ICAI is to create global CAs by converging with international accountancy firms and adopting the systems which are in line with standard global accountancy practices. The endeavour is to bring ICAI to the forefront of economic activities," he said.
ICAI vice president K Raghu said the institute has collaborated with the government to enhance accountability and transparency in public service delivery mechanism. An example of it was the audit report for MNREGA taken up by the institute which covered more than 2.5 lakh villages.
"The audit report will be submitted soon to the government," he said.
