A deputy superintendant of customs and central excise was arrested for running a brothel near the old MLA quarters in Hyderguda on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Narayanguda police raided a flat at RKS apartment opposite the old MLA quarters in Hyderguda and found a thriving brothel being run by 53-year-old flat owner Savitri Bala.
According to the Narayanguda police, Savitri is a deputy superintendant at the customs and central excise office in Basheerbagh.
Savitri's husband, who was an inspector with the customs and central excise department, died eight years ago due to ill health and she got the job on compassionate grounds.
