Income tax officials stage dharna in support of demands
May, 08th 2012

Income tax officials under the banner of Joint Council Association staged a dharna in Ludhiana against Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) chairman Laxman Das on Tuesday in support of their demands.

They were also protesting since the chairman did not hold a meeting with

office-bearers of the association regarding their demands. The protesters raised slogans against Das.
Rajiv Puri, secretary, Income Tax Gazetted Officers Association, said that they had staged a demonstration on May 3 also in favour of their demands. Now, they would hold a demonstration on May 15, if the chairman remained reluctant to hold a meeting with members of the association.

According to Naresh Bhagat, president of Income Tax Gazetted Officers Association, around 16 demands of the association were pending till date.

They have been demanding quarterly meetings with the chairman, which had not been done for the past one year. They are also demanding a cadre review in the department.

Office-bearers of the Income Tax Employees Association also participated in the dharna.
