                                     INCIDENT REPORT

        An intelligence was gathered that M/s. Mohindra Tubes Pvt. Ltd. factory premises
located at NH 31, Gairkata Road, Telepara Sakoajhora No. 1 Gram Panchayat, Distt.- Jalpaiguri,
Pin- 735 101, manufacturer of Asbestos Cement Pressure Pipe & Couplings was blatantly
suppressing the clearance figures through mis-statement in statutory periodical excise returns.
The officers of the Anti Evasion Unit of Jalpaiguri Division conducted a search operation on
03.02.2012, and retrieved from the Personal Computer maintained at the factory some
documents pertaining to the payments made in relation to a number of work orders for supply of
the said goods to various buyers. The Director of the company could not produce the relevant
documents such as the invoice books, work orders etc. in relation to the said transactions, as the
same were purportedly under the possessions of the tax consultant. Such documents were then
seized under the properly done panchanama. The officers observed that a huge amount of orders
were received and executed but the same were not reflected in the returns submitted to the
department. In order to actually ascertain the exact quantum of evasion, relevant documents were
asked from the director but he failed to produce the same. However from the available data from
the various sources and data painstakingly collected from each individual leaf of the invoice
books, quantification of the evaded amount has been done and an evasion of Rs. 1,12,07,658/-
(One crore twelve lakhs, seven thousand six hundred and fifty eight) has been detected.
Recovery action is underway.
