The Commercial Taxes department is on an e-drive as it will now be providing C-forms online, which can be downloaded by traders to prevent the laborious task of stepping into a government office.
The department which has promoted the use of e-sugam will ensure that C-forms will contribute to the added usage of their tech savvy??????????????? initiatives.
But the department has stated that this would be done only on one condition; that service dealers would have to upload inventories of their interstate purchases after which they can download C-forms online. We are also working on refunds for domestic purchases via electronic methods if we can collect tax online, we must make efforts to pay refunds electronically as well, Commissioner of Commercial Tax (Karnataka) Pradeep Singh Kharola said.
Candidly promoting the e-sugam, he said that it would be possible if the? seller and purchaser raise e-sugams for their verifications.
We will start a pilot project in the next few months, he said and added that the department needs participation from industry in the form of volunteers who will take part.? Claiming that the department runs one of the most sophisticated CT systems in the country, he said, We will be ready for Goods and Services Tax (GST) when it is implemented. He also claimed that there were over 80000 e-sugam downloads a day. Earlier, he had stated that the number of people using sugam was nearing 90 per cent and they were working towards providing an SMS update of e-sugam accounts to customers once a day. He had also claimed that the risk of misuse had? increased.
