The Allahabad Municipal Corporation would soon be starting online facility for the payment of house tax. The municipal corporation staff is busy giving final touches to the start of the facility. AMC has often been accused of being adverse to the adoption of modern technology, which besides improving the efficiency of its staff could also prove convenient for people.
With the provision of this facility, general public would no longer have to make a beeline at the office of Allahabad Municipal Corporation and sweat out in long queues. Instead, in future they could simply make the payment online with the click of a mouse from their homes. People would only have to log onto the website of the AMC and after clicking on the related icons, they would be able to make their payment.
Though the exact date for the start of the service is yet to be announced, authorities maintain that the service would likely be started by this month end.
The service would also come to the aid of those who have houses in the city but are currently residing in other states. These people often face difficulty in depositing their house tax. But, with the coming up of online facility things would be much easier for them.
It is pertinent to mention that there are about 1,70,000 houses in the city which are within the municipal limits of the Allahabad Municipal Corporation. House tax is imposed on houses which are built within the municipal limits of the city and forms one of the major sources of income for the AMC.
PK Mishra, head, tax department of AMC said that people would greatly benefit from online payment facility. "This would also help us belie the notion that we always remain against the incorporation of new technology," he added.
Recently, Allahabad Municipal Corporation had started the provision of online billing of house tax. The user can simply log on the AMC website and get the house tax bill of a given year. Further, there are other facilities too available on the website. People can calculate their ARV (Annual Rental Value) and House Tax by providing basic details of property.
